Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park via the Equator Stopover

Morning: Departure from Kampala or Entebbe

Your adventure begins early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel or airport. You’ll journey southwest towards Lake Mburo National Park, a scenic 4–5-hour drive that showcases Uganda’s countryside.

Along the way, you will stop at the Equator Monument in Kayabwe – a popular geographical landmark. Here, you'll take captivating photos while standing on the imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Enjoy brief demonstrations that show how water swirls differently in each hemisphere. You can also shop for souvenirs or enjoy a cup of Ugandan coffee at one of the nearby craft shops.

Afternoon: Arrival at Lake Mburo National Park

Upon arrival at the park, proceed to check in at your selected safari lodge. Take some time to relax and enjoy lunch as you soak in the peaceful surroundings of the park.

Evening: Sunset Game Drive

Later in the evening, embark on a guided game drive through the park’s rolling landscapes and savannahs. Lake Mburo is home to a wide range of animals including zebras, impalas, buffaloes, elands, and topis. Unlike other parks in Uganda, Lake Mburo lacks elephants, making walking and driving safaris particularly unique and safe.

As the sun begins to set, the golden light creates a picturesque backdrop ideal for wildlife photography. The peaceful ambiance of the park in the evening makes this a truly special experience.

Overnight: Return to your lodge for a hearty dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Walking Safari & Boat Cruise – Return to Kampala/Entebbe

Early Morning: Guided Walking Safari

Wake up to the sounds of nature and prepare for a guided walking safari, led by an experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger. This immersive experience allows you to walk safely through the bush and observe wildlife from a close but safe distance. Learn about animal tracks, bird calls, medicinal plants, and the ecosystem that makes Lake Mburo so unique.

Expect to encounter antelopes, zebras, warthogs, and various bird species. Walking in the wild is a rare opportunity to connect with nature in its raw form – something that few safari destinations offer.

Mid-Morning: Boat Cruise on Lake Mburo

After the walking safari, head to Lake Mburo for a scenic boat ride. As you glide across the water, watch for hippos cooling off, crocodiles basking on the banks, and an array of birdlife such as African fish eagles, kingfishers, and herons. The lake is also a great spot for photographers and nature lovers.

Afternoon: Return Journey to Kampala/Entebbe

  • Enjoy lunch and begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. Reflect on your memorable experiences as you wind down your short but unforgettable safari.
